THE EARLY YEARS
As the famous statement goes "You will never win if you never begin", so in 1993 despite other football clubs being established in the parish of Burt, Inch & Fahan. Aileach Football Club began its journey not knowing where it would go. Over the years, the club grew, introducing reserve teams and underage teams but still no facilities to call its own, moving from rented field to rented field, struggling to survive. By 2004, the interest in football had got to the stage, that the committee had to take the plunge and purchase and develop ground to create facilities to call their own. The plans were made and the fundraising was cranked up a level. After finally receiving a Sports Capital Grant and the finance in place, the physical work began, and by the summer of 2010 our new home, "Lakeside" was ready to move into.
THE LAKESIDE YEARS
Aileach moved into their new home on Sunday 1st August 2010, with a tournament involving Aileach, Preston North End, Derry City and the Inishowen League. The committee refused to rest on their laurels and plans for the clubhouse commenced. Unfortunately the local economy took a turn for the worse and the club slowed it's plans to ensure that no further pressure was placed on the families that supported us over the years. Step by step the club has tried to balance the ability to survive with the opportunity to improve and to date we have achieved this goal. In 2018, we launched a successful house draw which helped to ease some of the debt placed upon the club and we hope with this current draw to push on and further improve our current facilities and reduce the debt incurred by previous projects.
